Make Wise Tree Removal Decisions before a Hurricane

Each year, as the tropical cyclone season arrives, homeowners across the region are eyeing their trees and wondering how safely they will weather the season. Should the tree stay or should it go? For many homeowners, the visible and physical impact of the destruction of trees and property during storm events is enough to prompt them to engage in "chain saw backlash," or the unnecessary removal of perfectly good, sound trees. Lost & Found

As a service to members and residents, our Lost & Found page has been created as a place to post information about lost pets and other items that association members may have lost or found.

Be sure to keep recent photographs of your pet on hand if the need ever arises. Just email a digital version of the photograph to us along with a description of your lost pet and contact information. Members who have found a stray pet or other item should send us a description along with contact information and we'll post that, too.

Lost

Lost Cat on Brocade - (11/16/08) - LOST CAT was last seen at home, on Brocade Drive Monday, November 10th. She is light gray and considered to be a "muted calico". She is petite and spayed. Her name is Tootie and we miss her terribly. Please check your sheds/garages. She is curious and often accidentally gets locked in ours. Please let me know if you have seen her, dead or alive. Please email me a ladwh@cox.net or call at 288-2919 or 288-0609.

Thank you. Lisa Harris

Lost Keys & Cellphone on Goodwood - (09/30/08) - I live at the corner of Francis Harriet and Goodwood at 9235 Goodwood Blvd. On the night of September 23, 2008 I forgetfully left my keyring, cell phone and wallet on the trunk lid of my car overnight. Apparently, someone saw them and stole them between midnight and 8 am the next morning. I found the empty wallet in front of my house on Francis Harriet but I have not located the cell phone or keyring. If anyone finds a keyring with several keys or a black Sanyo Sprint cell phone please contact me at 929-5261. Thank you.

Lost Cat on S. River Oaks and Sharp - (07/19/08) I live on the corner of S. River Oaks and Sharp. My son brought me his cat last Wednesday. I let him out of the house on Thursday night 7/17 and have not seen him since. He is white with an orange tail and ears and has a few orange spots. He had an infection in his left eye which was healing. If anyone has seen him, please give me a call. Peggy - 978-1792.

Lost Bird - (05/15/08) I live at the corner of Elizabeth and N. Parkview at 820 Elizabeth. Sometime during the day on Thursday someone stole my daughter's pet cockatiel (bird) and the cage from the front porch of our home.

If you saw anyone carrying a 3 foot tall white bird cage with a yellow bottom near my home at 820 Elizabeth on Thursday, May 29th, please give me a call and provide me with details.

Thanks,

Mark

Brown and white dog at S. Woodhaven Drive & Rhapsody Drive - (11/6/08) - There is a medium-sized brown and white dog loose near the corner of S. Woodhaven Drive and Rhapsody Drive. This dog has no colar. He/she seems to be well behaved, but is highly energetic. I can’t catch him, because he has no collar (or tags).

White Male Puppy w/ Leash - (09/30/08) - A neighbor and her kids LOVE this white puppy. She is keeping it at her house for now. She plans to put an ad in the paper to make sure it doesn't belong to someone, and then they will keep the dog and it WILL NOT go to animal control. She took it to her vet to see if it had a chip in it's neck but it did not.

Today (9/29/08), a neighbor reports that a sweet friendly white male puppy that had half of a purple leash around his neck was seen on Woodbine Street between Broadmoor Avenue and East Riveroaks. If they can catch it they plan to call animal control to pick it up. If anyone wants a very sweet white puppy (looks like he's about 4 or 5 months old) he's on Woodbine right now, but will be at animal control soon.

Found Dog on Woodhaven near Broadmoor HS - (9/22/08) This fine dog (see photo at right) was found near Broadmoor High School at 5 PM today: Brown male dog, approx. 60 pounds; black nose w/ white spot on chest; excellent condition. Telephone: 225-328-9133

Thanks to our supporters - Broadmoor UMC and Broadmoor HS

We want to thank the organizations that help to make our association's work possible year in and year out. The Broadmoor United Methodist Church has provided meeting space for us for many years and we very much appreciate there doing so! In 2007, we asked Broadmoor High School to let us use their courtyard for our Annual Junque Sale and they agreed. Thanks to their support, we were able to raise funds in 2007 for beautification projects, and in 2008 for replacing a damaged sign on Goodwood Boulevard.
