Communications Committee

Hello, and thanks for your interest in our Communications Committee. According the our association by-laws, this committee is responsible for publishing the newsletter, managing the web site, and maintaining our telephone Hotline.

It has been a very enjoyable and rewarding experience serving as webmaster. Our former treasurer, Cass Moret, created our first web page while also serving as treasurer, and was instrumental in my joining the association and taking on the webmaster's duties. Recently, I was asked to head the Communications Committee and to edit the newsletter. As chairman, I will work with the board to achieve a cohesive and coordinated communications effort.

Web Site

In case you haven't noticed, as of June 1, 2008 our web site now has an actual name - The Broadmoor Breeze and a fresh new look, too. Additional content has been added and a few older items have been moved to different locations. We now have sections for each of our committees, plus other pages of interest such as Lost & Found and Links. The News Section is now home for older news articles in addition to our PDF versions of newsletter, Treasurer's reports and our Secretary's monthly board meeting minutes. An entirely new section, People, is a place for you to send photos and stories about Broadmoor and Baton Rouge "way back when", along with recipes and other items of interest to the community, and a Guestbook has been added as a place to post and read comments.

This table illustrates the number of visitors (Visits) to our site and the number of pages (Pages) viewed. It is updated monthly. The numbers for June are encouraging - we had 1245 visitors looking at 3515 pages during the month compared to 706 visitors & 1935 pages for May.

Newsletter

Our venerable newsletter was reintroduced in June 2008 as The Broadmoor Breeze with a new look and additional content along with the information and reports everyone has come to expect from this popular quarterly report. It is mailed to over 2000 addresses in Broadmoor. Thanks to Kerry Beary for serving as our previous editor, and to the editorial team of Robert and Barbara Pace who managed the newsletter for several years until moving out of state in January 2007. These folks and the editors who preceded them did a great job and maintained a fine publication over the years.

Advertising is important to our success

Advertising is an important part of our overall communications program and Advertising Committee Chairman John Perkins is to be congratulated for his outstanding efforts in signing advertisers, many of whom are with us for a second year in 2008. If you would like to advertise in our newsletter or know of others who may be interested, please visit the Advertising Committee page for specifics. All newsletter advertisers are automatically included in our web site at no additional charge.
